We would have loved to hop on one of these boat tours down on the water around the bend, as it looked incredible. It was a great tip!īoat tours of Horseshoe Bend are also available. The view is amazing, and it was recommended that we go in the middle of the day since that’s when the sun is in the right place and there aren’t a lot of shadows. Be smart! Don’t let your kids out of your sight or anywhere near the edge. Don’t worry, you can get a good picture right from there! We couldn’t believe all the people going out by the edge. There is railing around one section of it, and we highly recommend staying behind that barrier. Antelope Canyon ToursĪlso located in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Horseshoe Bend is scary but absolutely beautiful! When we did this our kids were 14, 11, 11 and 9. Plus drinks & snacks to have throughout the trip. We also packed lunch that we ate before hiking. The kayaking & paddle-boarding was awesome. You could also rent a boat or jet skis to get there. It is recommended you book yourself a kayak or paddle-board ahead of time. Lots of effort but totally worth it! Paddling was about 4 miles round trip. After that you have to drag tour kayak back up the sand hill. As it can be very busy with boats on the weekend. The paddle back once we left the canyon and we’re back on the open water was hard since the wind had picked up! It was also recommended not to do this on the weekend. We hiked about 30-40 minutes in & turned around. We heard it is about 1.8-2 miles to reach the Navajo land – where you can’t go in (this is the part of Antelope Canyon that you book a tour for – listed below). Here you can take your kayaks out and hike into the Canyon. You paddle through the canyon until you reach the end. Boats and jet skis can still go back there. Just stay to the left when you get in the water. It was hard to paddle! This takes about 30 – 45 minutes to get through.Īfter that you reach the canyon. It is very choppy and lots of boats going by causing more waves.
